Founded in 1966 by Pierre Grabar, the French Society for Immunology (SFI) is composed of 1500 members active in basic immunological research, as well as clinical and biological immunology. In 1971, the SFI was one of the ten national societies that participated in the creation of the International Union of Immunological Societies and in 1975 in the creation of the European Federation of Immunological Societies. The SFI has developed a network of immunologists across France and Europe by organizing its annual national meetings, either in its own capacity or jointly with other European Immunological societies, in tune with the triennial European Congress of Immunology. The SFI publishes in scientific journals and on its website (https://immunology.fr/en/la-sfi/), as well as in newsletters and via social media (Tweeter and LinkedIn) to link members and spread information on current events related to immunology (congresses, announcements, job offers.). The SFI recently created the French Club of Young Immunologists (https://immunology.fr/en/club/ji-sfi/) to promote the career of young immunologists. The SFI awards training and travelling bursaries to its young members.
