17th International Workshop on Langerhans Cells – and Related Myeloid Cells of the Skin

Thursday 8th June 2023 at Institut Cochin

This Workshop started in 1984 an has always been organised be an informal group of researchers from the dendritic cell / Langerhans cell (LC) community.  The Workshop this year is being organised by Dr. Yonatan Ganor from the Cochin Institute in Paris.

The Workshop has always been a forum for scientists worldwide to present their cutting-edge work and technological advances in the field of skin immunity with a special focus on LCs and dermal dendritic cells and other myeloid cells (DCs). Novel insights into the development and homeostasis of LCs and dermal DCs and their respective functional roles in health and disease are discussed.

Progress regarding translation into the clinic such as therapeutic interventions using DC for the treatment of skin diseases and cancer (“cancer vaccines”) are presented. The workshop always gave particularly young researchers a great opportunity to meet and interact with leading experts in the field of myeloid cell biology and skin immunology (e.g., several times with the late Ralph Steinman, Nobel Laureate 2011).
